June scripture–what do you think?
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
These verses come from a much longer passage emphasizing trust in the sovereignty of God. This chapter, and several of the chapters before it, reassure us that God has not forgotten His promises or His people. Although we may be unable to understand why things happen, we are loved by a God who can redeem our situation and create something good. (In fact, this “Great Name” for God—Redeemer—is used more often in Isaiah than in any other Old Testament book.) We truly serve a God of hope and new beginnings.
What does this passage say to you? What do you learn from it? How does it change you?
