Worship Timeline

1992: Lowell “Bud” Paxson had an idea for a program that would create an atmosphere in the home to inspire and encourage a quiet time to worship God…and The Worship Network was born.

1993: Worship for Kids with host Gary Richardson and Grandma Mac launches.

1994: The 50th affiliate station joins us in broadcasting Worship and we celebrate our first European affiliate in Iceland.

1995: 100 affiliate stations now broadcast Worship and our first Asian affiliate, Taiwan, joins us.

1996: Worship launches programming on Sky Angel via the Dish Network. 125 affiliate stations now air Worship programming, including our first South American affiliate, Brazil. In addition, Praise TV launches as a sister network to Worship.

1997: Worship now has 150 affiliate stations and reaches over 50,000,000 homes across the U.S. We celebrate our first Central American affiliate in Guatemala and produce our first international show segment from England.

1998: Our show host devotional segments move from studio to “on-location” nature sites. Worship programming now reaches over 60,000,000 homes across the U.S.

1999: A long-term carriage agreement is signed with PaxTV with inclusion of a 24-hour digital channel. 200 affiliate stations air Worship programming. Worship.Net is born including online donating and an interactive chat room. The Worship Network Membership Club celebrates its inaugural year.

2000: Digital non-linear edit suites are installed to streamline editing for Worship programming. The Worship Prayer Network is established with viewer volunteer prayer partners around the world. ETC “Entertainment That Counts” is launched and Worship tapes program segments in France.

2001: 250 affiliate stations air Worship programming. Show segments are produced both in Italy and Canada and Prayers Across America is created and aired in the aftermath of the September 11th attack on our nation.

2002: The Worship Network celebrates 10 years of ministry with programming now reaching more than 75,000,000 homes across the U.S. Worship is also seen in over 50 nations around the world with plans to expand programming into Africa and the Middle East. Our affiliate station count has risen to 259 stations.

2003 - The Worship Network continues to gather footage for their unique Worship programming, shooting in such varied places as Austria, Bermuda, Colorado and Nevada. Worship introduces a new style of programming with "The Joy of Christmas" - a special featuring the music of Acoustic Eidolon.

2004 - Following in the success of "The Joy of Christmas" the Worship Network produces two new music driven products, "The Quest" and an all-new live worship event, "Restoration."

2005 - Bruce Koblish is named CEO of Worship and Worship relocates to Nashville, Tennessee. Numerous products are created including "Classical Worship," "18 of the World's Greatest Hymns," and "Transitions." Worship goes digital and is now available 24/7 on PAX-TV's digital broadcast tier.
