Joining the conspiracy

The founders of Advent Conspiracy created the ministry to encourage a simpler, more generous approach to Christmas. Advent Conspiracy encourages Christians to celebrate the season by “worshiping fully, spending less, giving more, and loving all.” Participants are especially challenged to give some of the money they’d spend to help drill water wells for people without access to clean water. Hundreds of wells have been donated by AC “conspirators.”

“Solving this water problem once and for all will cost about $10 billion,” they write. “Not bad considering Americans spent $450 billion on Christmas last year. Our hope is that, by celebrating Christ in a new way at Christmas, the church can serve as the leading movement behind ending the water crisis once and for all.”
